2008.06.28. An injured foreigner

This person who looked like an American was bleeding as he was hit by a riot police's shield. (The riot police usually use their shield for their weapon to attack demonstrator because policing shield is hard and sharp.)
He was near the city council's chamber building and when he was hit, he was running to escape other police's attack toward demonstrators.

There's a 2.5 cm long and 0.5 mm deep scar on his left lip and he said he felt severe pain on his right shoulder. He described the moment that he sensed some light in front of his eyes and felt strong pain on his jar and tooth. He said that he couldn't recognize the face of the offender.

He was healed right after he was hit by the shield. He is now treated in a hospital and he's reportedly said to have some procedure to close the wound with several stitches.

This person later joked that he was lucky because his tooth was not broken, his head was safe and he has some Korean friends who will help him. He also appreciated to the news that the committee which has supported the demonstration will pay his medical expenses. He said that he somewhat worried about that because he had no insurance in this country.

Many Koreans who have known his story through the Internet hoped his well-being.
His story was posted on an website named Agora as his friend promised to let many people know this story.

2008.06.28. Beaten citizens (1)

A citizen is hit by a nut which was thrown by riot police. This person was desperately trying to avoid such an assault by shielding himself.

On the evening of June 29th, there were several heated chases between demonstrators and the riot police. And the police hit people regardless of their age or gender.

A senior citizen was bleeding as he was hit by the police.

The police fired water-canon to candlelight protesters without a hesitation. This fierce attack was so strong that many people bruised or wrenched. It was really tough enough to tear away thin vinyl rain coat.....

Even some people were thrown when they were hit this water rightly.

Also, many people said that they were able to sense some queasy odor from the water and they also felt sick. Now they say that there were some harmful ingredients in the water.

"We are not a mob! We just want to express how we disappointed about the president through a peaceful candlelight vigil!"

But the only answer for such public outcry was a flock of riot police.... In the rain, these police were ready to beat the citizens.

With the announcement from the government about strong will to deter any demonstration, on June 28Th a riot police spreaded a fire extinguisher toward a father and the baby in a baby carriage. This family was just standing on a paveway nearby a subway station which is located near the presidential office, the Bleu house. (But the distance between the station and the office is more than 500 meters and the office is heavily guarded by the police, military and various buildings.)

Maybe, president Lee seemed to be in fear of being attacted by families with babies...

In Seoul, so many people have been suffered from those reckless fire extinguisher attacks which are very harmful for human body.
